I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

 

1. 뜻

- to not know how to react in a particular situation

- to feel upset or annoyed about something bad that has happend, but also able to see that there is something funny about it. 

 (재미있으면서도 화나거나, 슬프면서도 행복한 감정을 동시에 느길 때)

  마음이 싱숭생숭하다. 웃어야 할지 울어야 할지 모르겠다. 

 

2. 예문 

1)  When she told me they are getting married, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. 

     그녀가 나에게 그들이 결혼한다고 말했을 때 나는 웃어야 할지 울어야 할지 몰랐다. 

 

2) A: Finally it's time to go to Australia! 

    B: Wait, I can't find the passport..I probably left it at home. 

        I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

     A: 드디어 우리가 호주에 간다! 

     B: 잠깐만, 나 여권을 못찾겠어. 여권 집에 두고 왔나 봐. 

          웃어야 할지 울어야 할지 모르겠네..
