- a particular effort is futile or a waste of time as there will be no outcome

: 죽은 말을 때리다. 

 = 시간과 에너지를 낭비하다. 헛고생이다.

1) He keeps trying to get it published but I think he's beating a dead hores. 

    그는 계속해서 그것을 출판하기 위해 노력했지만 나는 그가 헛고생한다고 생각한다. 

 

2) In other words, stop trying to beat a dead horse with certain people, jobs, or groups that are simply a wasteland for your bright light.
