Curiosity killed the cat

 

1. 뜻

- said to warn someone not to ask too many questions about something

- in order to tell someone that they should not try to find out about something which does not concern them

: 궁금함이 고양이를 죽였다. 

 = 지나치게 궁금해하면 큰일 날 수도 있다/위험할 수 있다. 

 

2. 예문 

1) Are you sure you want to watch this horror movie? Just remeber, curiosity killed the cat.

    정말로 이 공포 영화를 보고 싶어? 호기심이 고양이를 죽였다는 걸 잊지 마.(너무 궁금해하면 큰일 날 수도 있어.)

 

2) When Jane asked George where he was going at the middle of the night, he replied that curiosity killed the cat. 

    제인이 조지에게 한밤중에 어딜가는지 물었을 때, 조지는 많은 걸 알면 다친다라고 대답했다.
